Google Messages starts rolling out end-to-end encrypted group chats

SMS is quite a standard on smartphones. Many companies have tried over the course of 15 years, and it’s still irreplaceable. All over the world, people have moved beyond basic SMS, and now they prefer to use other messenger apps. But the people of the USA aren’t that facilitated. Google has tried hard over the years to replace it with RCS, but in vain. To commemorate SMS’s 30th anniversary, security features are being made available to Android users.

According to Google’s announcement, the feature of “end-to-end encryption” is in the process of beta testing, ensuring a secured experience quite soon. After 7 months, the plan was released, and further glitched messages and code strings indicate a new version.

RCS is in charge of the one-to-one messenger feature, which is required for encrypted chats to function. A lock icon will be visible for activation when it’s available on your smartphone. The feature is expected to be available quite soon. Screenshots of end-to-end encrypted messages are shared by Mishaal Rehman. It indicated the pairing of the server with the beta version 20221129 of the app. It will soon be available to all members for a group chat.

Its 30th birthday is being celebrated along with the history of messaging and the end of traditional style. The Get the Message campaign is convincing Apple to adapt RCS and iOS to allow secure texting between both platforms. Apple is very little interested in adapting traditional texting instead of imessaging.

Another part of today’s announcement was the addition of reaction emojis to text. These emojis will let you select reactions in response to the texts, just like in WhatsApp and Messenger.

With the availability of the end-to-end encryption feature, Google messages and its RCS functionality will feel more complete. However, if you aren’t happy with the experience provided by Google and prefer other third-party apps, there are plenty of other options to consider. If you want to get the feature without being enrolled in the beta program, you can download the APK from an APK mirror.
