Google might utilize rings and bracelets as input devices for its forthcoming AR glasses

In 2022, the I/O by Google was filled to the edge given the software and developer announcements as well as hardware. We saw the news about the Pixel 7 and the Pixel Watch and their launch. Furthermore, we heard about the Pixel Tablet that is yet to be introduced. Among all these devices, Google also declared that it will introduce future AR glasses. These glasses might appear distinct compared to the previous Glass introduced by Google. As per sources and reports, Google is testing two unique input methods for the forthcoming device.

According to 9to5Google and its sources are known with development at Google, the company is working on smart rings and bracelets as input methods for the forthcoming glasses. In comparison, Google Glass could be controlled via a touchpad used for tapping and swiping gestures. This was the basic principle that Google used for these companion hand devices.

Since Google owns North. We might expect something similar to Focals by North. Those glasses were equipped with a Loop ring. The ring had a joystick for moving around the interface and selecting the material. Bracelets are another solution Google is evidently looking at. It might work with a similar principle. It will enable swiping and tapping with fingers. The bracelet could have haptic feedback.

It is perhaps too early to understand how these AR glasses will operate. But we are interested to know more. Might any future event by Google hints at it? Perhaps at the Google I/O 2023. That is a wait of around five or six months.
