Haier, G5, Jio Phone, Mobo Mobiles and Foxconn are setting Cellphone assembly lines in Pakistan

Five mobile companies are considering setting up assembly lines in Pakistan. So finally Pakistan will start the manufacture of mobile phones locally.
The aim of this development is to boost foreign direct investment which can be worth millions of dollars. Companies that have asked permission to set up assembly lines in Pakistan are Haier, G5, Jio Phone, Mobo Mobiles and Foxconn.
PTA has issued rules and guidelines for the companies wishing to set up the cell phone assembly lines in the country.
PTA official said, “We expect these companies to start manufacturing mobile phones in their plants soon. Mobile phone users in Pakistan are fast shifting to hi-tech products; of the 24 million mobile sets being imported in a year, almost half are smartphones.”
Once this starts working the prices of phones will go down in Pakistan as there will be no import taxes and added prices along with the phone’s original price. Two demand for smartphones will also increase in Pakistan.
A Samsung official said, “The government should frame a policy to provide incentives to the brands establishing assembly lines in Pakistan.”
PTA has made it clear that the devices that will be assembled in Pakistan will be labeled “Assembled in Pakistan”.
PTA official informed, “After evaluation and verification, the PTA will issue formal no-objection certificates following the inspection of the assembly lines keeping in view the health, safety and technical standards. We want to ensure international standards.”
More people will be able to buy affordable phones assembled in Pakistan thus bringing further advancement in Pakistan.
