How You Can Activate Automatic Login in Windows 11

Windows 11 also offers the option of automatically logging in for specified users. Microsoft has made adjustments to the auto-login here compared to Windows 11.

The password does not always have to be entered

Microsoft has made a concerted effort in recent years to encourage Windows users to use a Microsoft account to log in to software and services. These efforts mean that most people also need to enter a password to log in to Windows 11. As with the previous versions, the latest Windows also offers the option of automatically logging in for the selected user in the future based on certain settings. We will then guide you step by step to autologin with Windows 11. 1. Command prompt

Use the command prompt to autologin

  • ⊞ Press Windows Key + R to bring up the Run dialog box
  • Type “netplwiz” and press Enter

2. Select account

Select account, deselect registration

  • Select account from the list displayed
  • At the top, uncheck the “Require users to enter username and password” checkbox
  • Click OK

3. One last login

Confirm one last time and auto-login is activated

  • Enter the username and password for the account you want to log in to automatically
  • Click OK and restart your computer

Disable Windows Hello to use auto-login

It is not possible to use Auto-Login and Windows Hello at the same time. An automatic login can only take place after deactivating the login function.

In the login options…

…disable Windows Hello

  • Select “Settings” in the start menu
  • Under “Accounts” select “Login options”.
  • Under “Additional Settings,” deselect “For security reasons, only allow Microsoft accounts on this device to sign in with Windows Hello.”
  • At the point “When should Windows request you to log in again after being absent?” Select “Never” in the drop-down menu
  • Under “Ways to log in” now select the login method you used so far and click “Remove”, confirm by entering your password and “OK”.

Lots of options for logging into Windows

From Windows Hello to auto-login: Windows 11 also offers many options for logging in.
