Huawei plans to begin construction of a facility in France in the upcoming year

Slowly and gradually, the world is recovering from pandemics and current economic situations that have impacted the supply chain and other business perspectives. Many tech companies had big plans for the future that were impacted by COVID-19. For manufacturing cellular network equipment, Huawei announced in 2020 that it would be building a factory in France. It has been a long time and we have heard nothing on this topic from the company. It was assumed that the company had abandoned the factory’s plan since there was no news about this. However, this might not be the actual case.

A new report shared by Reuters indicates that the company intends to begin constructing the plant in 2024. The report has references to sources familiar with the matter. Reportedly, the new plant will be located in Brumath, near Strasbourg. The report suggests that factory construction was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Currently, there are no details regarding the completion of the construction of the factory. Nonetheless, a French government source claims that the production facility was intended to open in 2025. Anticipate that the schedule will be delayed as well, given that the building will begin later than expected.

Initially, when the company shared the plan for this factory, Huawei claimed that it would invest 200 million euros in the new plant. In addition to this, the company claimed that it would hire 300 individuals in the initial phase. The employee number was reported to increase to 500 with time. Huawei has been silent on the subject thus far.
