Its laptop OLED screens are thinner than ever, and its new QD-OLED panels designed for TVs and monitors are brighter. In addition, the business unveiled a number of OLED screens that are foldable, rollable, slideable, and hybrid for use in cars, tablets, laptops, and other devices.

Well, this is not all. Interestingly, the company has introduced OLEDoS, a novel kind of tiny display designed for use in XR headsets. The new panels are anticipated to be used in the company’s XR headset which is expected to arrive at some point in 2024.

Some details about Samsung’s OLEDoS screen

OLEDoS abbreviates for Organic Light Emitting Diode on Silicon. It is the first OLEDaoS screen that comes with an RGB sub-pixel structure. According to the details, it is a 1.03-inch square screen. Samsung Display states that the display is created by placing organic materials on a silicon wafer. Interestingly, the display offers a high pixel density of 3,500 ppi. It is comparable to looking at a 4K screen through an XR/VR headset.

According to the company, the display doesn’t require a light source. In other words, it can show excellent visuals. Besides this, the company has not shared the frame rate of the display. Probably, it will feature support for 90 Hz, which will provide smooth visuals. The company might utilize two such screens in its potential XR headset. The new display has been created by eMagin. It is a US-based company that was acquired by Samsung a few months back. eMagin is popular for its products like helmets and night vision goggles that are used for military purposes. Both of these products are based on the OLEDoS panels.
