iPhone 11 Screen Problem: Apple Starts Exchange Program For iPhone 11 Series

Apple

Apple has now started a new exchange program after problems with the iPhone 11 series. IPhone 11 owners who have noticed their display is unresponsive can now get a free replacement or a repair.

According to Apple Support, only a subset of the iPhone 11 models that were manufactured between November 2019 and May 2020 are affected. The company has set up a special page to check whether your own device is qualified for the exchange program. There, the serial number is used to check whether the device belongs to the affected batches or not.

On the support page it says about the error:

  • Apple has found that a small percentage of iPhone 11 displays may become unresponsive to touch due to a problem with the display module. The affected devices were manufactured between November 2019 and May 2020.
  • If you were experiencing this issue with your iPhone 11, check the serial number below to see if your device qualifies for this program. If qualified, Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider will provide free service.

Conditions for exchange

As always, the conditions for the use of Apple’s exchange programs are the same. The devices must not have any damage that could hinder the change of the display. Apple has certain requirements for this, which can also be clarified in advance in an Apple store or with telephone support, for example. In addition, the Apple Exchange Program does not extend the standard warranty coverage. If you want to take advantage of the exchange, you have to do it in the first two years after the purchase, after which the claim is no longer valid.

Apple had already admitted a very similar mistake in 2018 with some iPhone X models. There was a problem with the display module, but only individual batches were affected.
