iPhone 12 Launch Date Delayed By Another One Month

As far as its flagship smartphones are concerned, Apple is always very predictable: the launch of the new iPhones will take place around mid-September, pre-orders will follow a few days later, and official sales will start a week later. It will be different this year.

The reason is so often the coronavirus these days because according to several sources this also has consequences for Apple and the launch of the iPhone 12. Recently, the best-known analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has claimed that the next Apple flagship is postponed by around a month, the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) has now confirmed in a report.

Another report earlier also hinted the Apple iPhone 12 launch date to be around November, and if we calculate the mid-September earlier expectation and one more month delay it goes to November launch.

Schedules messed up

There are several reasons for the postponement: On the one hand, the current corona crisis has mixed up the testers’ schedules; According to the Wall Street Journal, Apple usually turns up production of the finalized iPhones in July, but due to the current situation, this will be delayed until August. In addition, Apple’s contract manufacturer has currently imposed a hiring freeze. However, we are still not sure about the launch date due to uncertainties in the market as Samsung has recently announced cut in its smartphone production.

According to the WSJ, Apple expects to sell around 20 percent fewer smartphones in the second half of 2020, so the Cupertino-based group also plans to reduce the number of units produced. However, Apple expects that this can be offset by increased sales in early 2021. The reason for this is, of course, the currently tense economic situation worldwide, so many will refrain from buying an expensive iPhone.

It remains to be seen whether this will result in a postponement of the September event. However, it is highly questionable whether Apple can or does not want to make a traditional presentation this year because it is unlikely that everything will be the same again in autumn and that there will be no contact restrictions.
