iPhone 14 and 14 Pro Have Deteriorating Battery Capacity

Apple iPhone 14 Pro Max

iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro owners have noticed that their smartphones are already suffering from more battery degradation than expected. The first complaints about this came up a few weeks ago.

Battery capacity problems

This is reported by The Verge. Complaints about the declining battery capacity of the iPhone 14 family were investigated there. The devices have not even been on the market for a year.

The complaints are a reminder that Apple has had significant battery performance issues in the past. A few years ago there was a scandal called “Batterygate”. It turned out that since the update to iOS 10.2.1 released in January 2017, Apple has taken the right to throttle the performance of older smartphones in order to extend the life of iPhone batteries. That should save the batteries.

Now, iPhone 14 owners are finding their battery performance has already dropped to 90 percent or less at maximum capacity. There are a number of complaints online about this. It also states that you’ll notice a much faster drop-off than previous iPhone batteries.

However, it must be said that Apple iPhone batteries should “retain up to 80 percent of their original capacity after 500 full charge cycles”. It is unclear to what extent the drop noticed by users is actually a problem.

The Verge has sent a request to Apple but has not yet received a response.

Battery development

The iPhone 15 series is expected to launch in the coming month. According to the rumor mill, the new iPhones will have a battery that is between 10 and 18 percent larger than the current devices. The battery has been one of the components that has been improved in every generation.
