Point instead of “tub”

Apple was one of the first companies to introduce and popularize the so-called notch, and the company from Cupertino, California, stuck to it for a long time. Because while most Android manufacturers have now turned away from it and rely on a punctiform “punch-hole” solution, Apple still has a “tub” that contains sensors and a front camera on the upper edge of the display. But that could be the end of this year: As the always well-informed Apple expert Mark Gurman writes in his Bloomberg newsletter “Power On” Apple Insider reports, Apple is likely to use a hole in the upper area of ​​the display for the iPhone 14 for the first time, which has long been standard at Samsung, Google, Huawei, and Co.

This means that Apple would have to relocate some aspects on the front of the True Depth camera under the display. At least if you want to continue using Face ID – and there is hardly any doubt about that. That would not be a big surprise, because experts like Ming-Chi Kuo have been expecting Apple to switch to a perforated display for a long time.

Camera hump and titanium body

Other rumors suggest that the iPhone 14, which will undoubtedly be unveiled again in September 2022, could eliminate the camera hump on the back to make the device flatter overall. In addition, the resolution of the main camera could be upgraded from 12 to 48 megapixels. Gurman also writes that there could be a titanium case.
