Blade Runner 2099: Amazon shows the teaser trailer for the miniseries

Amazon has released the first teaser trailer for Blade Runner 2099, which already gives a pretty good impression of the visual style and atmosphere of the sci-fi mini-series starting this fall. There are also new details about the plot – and the release date has now been set.

The title already gives it away: Blade Runner 2099 takes place exactly 50 years after the events of the 2017 film Blade Runner 2049, in which, among others, Ryan Gosling returned as Officer K to Ridley Scott’s dystopian vision of the future to search for the missing Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford).

In Amazon’s eight-part miniseries, the focus will instead be on two young women who we get to know briefly in the video: Hunter Schafer takes on the role of Cora, who is on the run and therefore takes on a new identity as a blade runner. Michelle Yeoh portrays a replicant named Olwen who is apparently doomed to die. Together, the two hunt for a replicant who has information that could ultimately plunge Los Angeles into chaos.

In addition to Schafer and Yeoh, the series also stars Dimitri Abold, Lewis Gribben, Katelyn Rose Downey, Daniel Rigby, Johnny Harris, Amy Lennox, Sheila Atim, Matthew Needham, Tom Burke and Maurizio Lombardi. Showrunner and executive producer is Silka Luisa, Ridley Scott is also involved in the project as executive producer.

Completed story in November

All eight episodes will be released on November 25, 2026. Since Amazon describes Blade Runner 2099 as a “limited series,” further seasons are not expected. Fans can look forward to a completed story that is not threatened with later cancellation.
