iPhone 18e leaked: First details about Apple’s entry-level smartphone
Apple is apparently planning a new edition of its entry-level smartphone for next year. The iPhone 18e will receive two significant technical upgrades, while the display will remain with a known limitation. Here are the first details.
Upcoming iPhone 18e in detail
Apple’s next entry-level smartphone is scheduled to come onto the market in spring 2027 and will succeed the iPhone 17e, which was released in March 2026. Initial details indicate that the new model will be equipped with a faster processor and an improved front camera. The core of the device will be Apple’s upcoming A20 chip. The semiconductor is expected to be manufactured using the 2-nanometer process and is expected to offer more performance with higher energy efficiency compared to the current A19 chip. In addition, according to previous rumors, the processor will be combined with 9 GB of RAM instead of the previous 8 GB.
New camera, old display
The leaker Digital Chat Station provides further details about the planned smartphone Contribution on the Weibo platform. Accordingly, the front camera should be upgraded to a 24 megapixel sensor. This could be the square sensor that is already used in the iPhone 18 Pro (Max). The format allows you to take selfies in portrait or landscape format without having to rotate the device. According to the leaked information, on the back there will be a single camera with 48 megapixels. An ultra wide-angle lens is still missing. The manufacturer is apparently not planning any changes to the screen either.
The 6.12-inch OLED panel should still be limited to a refresh rate of 60 Hertz. An earlier report from Korea suggests that a 120 Hertz display will not arrive on the entry-level model until 2028 with the “iPhone 19e”. The current entry-level model costs around 820 euros in stores in this country. It is still uncertain whether Apple will maintain the price range. The official presentation is expected for spring 2027, possibly at the same time as the standard model of the iPhone 18 and the new iPhone Air 2.
