iPhone SE 2021 Concept Image Shows Punch-hole Design

iPhone SE 2021

With the third generation of the iPhone SE, Apple could give its cheap iOS smartphone a drastic makeover this year. The first render images summarize the current rumours and show a concept of the compact model without a notch.

Since the introduction of the iPhone X in 2017, the Face ID notch on the upper edge of the display has been a thorn in the side of many Apple fans. Rumour has it that Cupertino is also working on reducing the so-called true depth camera system and thus also the notch. The Swedish designers at Svetapple are pursuing the wish that this will not apply to a possible iPhone SE (2021). A rendering based on forecasts puts the “entry-level” smartphone in a new light.

Is the Home Button celebrating its final farewell in 2021?

While the second generation of the iPhone SE in its iPhone 8 look, including a wide-screen frame and classic home button, was slightly refreshed last year, experts expect a new design this April, which is atypical for Apple. Without facial recognition, the US manufacturer could opt for a punch-hole camera this year, which significantly minimizes the disruptive factor with regard to the possible 5.4-inch display. Similar ideas can also be seen in the recently released render images of the Apple iPad Mini 6.

Furthermore, the iPhone SE (2021) could inherit the flat side edges of the iPhone 12 series and accommodate the Touch ID sensor in the power switch, according to the concept designers. Technically, the Swedes assume a single camera on the front and back, which works with a resolution of 12 megapixels. The Apple A14 Bionic chip, an OLED display with 2340 x 1080 pixels and a brightness of 625 nits and the magnetic MagSafe charging option are also under discussion.

Finally, Svetapple underlines the fact that this is the first concept and should therefore be viewed with a certain scepticism.
