It is now officially confirmed that the OnePlus 12 will feature a 64MP periscope telephoto camera

The Chinese company OnePlus took to its Weibo page to confirm that the OnePlus 12 will feature a 64MP periscope telephoto camera. Moreover, the post says that we will have more details on November 12. Well, this piece of information is only relevant to the telephoto camera; what about other cameras on the smartphone?

According to rumors, the smartphone will feature three rear cameras. The available information suggests that the primary camera will be a 50-megapixel unit from Sony. Previously, the company used the Sony LYT-808 camera on the OnePlus Open. It is now expected to be featured on the OnePlus 12 as well. However, some rumors point out that the company will use the Sony LYT-900, but there are fewer votes for it.

In comparison, the LYT-808 offers stability and a great experience. This makes some sense because, in the past, OnePlus phones needed a few updates to enhance the camera experience and elevate it to the level that those phones were due. It appears that OnePlus desires flawless results straight out of the packaging.

The ultrawide unit could be the same as the one on the predecessor

Let us have a sneak peek into the third ultrawide camera unit. The tipster Abhishek Yadav claims that it will be a 48MP Sony IMX581 sensor. It is the same sensor that was featured with the OnePlus 11’s ultrawide camera. it is now evident that the smartphone will feature a 50MP primary camera (Sony LYT-808 sensor), a 64MP periscope telephoto unit (OV64B, based on rumors), and a 48MP ultrawide camera (Sony IMX581 sensor).

Besides this, tipster Abhishek Yadav claims that the periscope telephoto camera of the smartphone will feature support for 3x optical zoom, which is a bit unsatisfactory for a periscope camera. It should support 5x optical zoom but given the fact that the OnePlus 11 features 2x optical zoom, a 3x optical zoom with the OnePlus 12 is a big improvement.
