John Wick: Prequel ‘The Continental’ Coming Next Year As A Streaming Series

The first trailer for what is now the fourth installment in the John Wick action thriller series was unveiled at the end of July and it has long been clear that the makers of the film series want more. Because the “John Wick universe” will also be shown on television, in the form of a prequel series.

A “universe” is usually summed up as a cinematic or literary world that is somehow different from reality. This usually applies to genres like sci-fi and fantasy, while action movies rarely, if ever, require the creation of a universe of their own. The exception is John Wick because here the creators have created a world with its own laws, where murderers and criminals act according to their own code of honor. A hub of this world is the Continental Hotel, which is a neutral territory for members of the criminal underworld.

The Continental is coming in 2023

And it is precisely this hotel that will be the focus of a three-part miniseries planned by American broadcaster NBC’s Peacock streaming service. Now he’s announced she’ll be appearing next year (via polygon). The Continental, as it’s called, tells the story of how the hotel of the same name came to be. In particular, The Continental will talk about the beginnings of Winston Scott.

He is played by Ian McShane in the John Wick movies, and Colin Woodell (The Purge, The Flight Attendant) slips into his role in the prequel. The choice of a much younger actor is also no surprise, as The Continental is set in the 1970s, 1975. In addition to Manager Winston, there will also be younger versions of Concierge Charon and Cleaner Charlie, starring Ayomide Adegun. and Peter Greene (Pulp Fiction). A prominent name stands out from the cast, with Mel Gibson starring as a character named Cormac. That can only be speculated at this point, but given Gibson’s more-than-questionable past, a villain wouldn’t surprise us.
