KDDI chooses Samsung to supply the 5G core for its networks throughout Japan

In January 2023, the tech giant Samsung carried out a successful demonstration of the SLA network slicing on a live 5G network. This demonstration was carried out in Tokyo, Japan. It appears that the company is successful with its experimentation. Since it was announced today, it has been listed as the cloud-native 5G Standalone (SA) Core provider across Japan. The decision was taken by the network operator KDDI.

One of the competitive advantages portrayed by the 5G Core solutions of Samsung is that it has support for both 4G as well as 5G. It makes it likely to perform the unified movement of 4G standard to 5G. moreover, it offers support for geo-redundancy. Besides this, the 5G Core solution guarantees the constancy and dependability of the network with the help of overload control features that counter unexpected traffic spikes.

It is now reported that the tech giant Samsung is going to fuel the 5G SA network by KDDI across Japan. Such an achievement is the result of years of partnership between the two companies on a wide range of products. A few times ago, the two companies installed Open virtualized RAN (vRAN) sites in Osaka. It was the world’s first commercial MU-MIMO implementation equipped with O-RAN-compliant multivendor interoperability.

Besides this, some other information from the 5G sector indicates that the tech company Samsung has successfully installed around 10,000 5G vRAN sites in the USA. it intends to deploy 20,000 sites by 2025. In addition to this, the company has signed a deal with Nokia. It is basically a multi-year patent licensing agreement. It will enable the South Korean tech firm to utilize the 5G technologies of Nokia.
