LEGO Enters the Final Frontier with Star Trek Collaboration

After 59 years, Star Trek will work with Lego for the first time. A teaser video shows Captain Picard as a mini figure and indicates a The Next Generation Set. The first official Lego set by and with Star Trek could still be released in 2025.

After months of rumors, Lego officially confirmed the first cooperation with the science fiction franchise at Star Trek Day. A 15-second teaser trailer shows Captain Picard in Lego form and the characteristic red star fleet uniform from The Next Generation. The video begins with the familiar transporter room of the Enterprise, in which a silhouette first materializes, which then turns out to be a tiny Lego-Minifigure by Jean-Luc Picard. The announcement was deliberately carried out on September 8, the official Star Trek Day, who is reminiscent of the first broadcast of the original series in 1966.

According to rumors, the first set is said to be the USS Enterprise NCC-1701-D with around 3600 components. This would make the Next Generation spaceship one of the most elaborate Lego projects and classify the category of the large Creator Expert sets. The entire bridge crew should be there: Picard, Riker, Worf, Geordi, Dr. Crusher, Wesley Crusher, Troi, Guinan and Data – including his cat. The Enterprise D was the flagship of the Federation in the Next Generation and served for seven seasons as the home of the crew around Captain Picard. With a (standard) length of 641 meters, the ship is significantly larger than the original enterprise design and thus offers more options for detailed LEGO implementations. The possibilities of the partnership are as limitless as the adventures in the various Star Trek series. Future projects could come into account both from the original series or The Next Generation as well as newer productions such as Discovery or Strange New Worlds. Sets of the original Enterprise NCC-1701, the Voyager from the series of the same name or even room stations such as Deep Space Nine would be conceivable.

Smaller sets with individual shuttles or bridge modules could also add the range and cover various price ranges. The teaser video does not announce a specific publication date, but only announces the sets with “Coming Soon” (even the Klingon Scripture at the end of the teaser informs us “soon available”). The hashtags used indicate that the publication could possibly take place in 2026 for the 60th anniversary of Gene Roddenberry’s original series.
