Lenovo is working on Legion Go 2 and Lite version

For a long time, the Nintendo Switch was the only handheld console with detachable controllers. Things have changed since the Legion Go was launched a year ago. Lenovo is now already working on the successor. But it could lose its special function, as the pictures show. Windows Report / Lenovo

New variants of Legion Go leaked

Lenovo has confirmed – probably accidentally – the existence of a Legion Go Gen 2 and a Legion Go Lite. In a document to the new USB-C dock The company’s two consoles are listed alongside the original Legion Go in the list of compatible devices.

The manufacturer had already revealed in April that Lenovo was working on further developing its handheld, which will be released in 2023, despite the lack of financial success so far. But not much more has been made public since then. The names of the new consoles that have now appeared could also only be placeholders and do not represent the final names.

Pictures show outer shell

At least one leak a few days ago showed two images of one of the two upcoming versions of the Legion Go. This is what user posted NITTRX a picture of a case labeled “LEGION, Lenovo”. The front and back of the outer shell can be seen.

It is unclear whether this is the Gen 2 or the Lite version of the console. At least it’s clear to see that it’s not a handheld with removable controllers, because the housing is made from one piece. It could therefore be that this is an image of the Legion Go Lite.

Assumed specifications

How Videocardz reported, the cheap Lite variant is said to be equipped with an AMD Zen4 with RDNA 3 like the original console. A Ryzen Z1 APU could also be installed inside. The GPU is an AMD Radeon 740M. The Lenovo Legion Go Lite is scheduled to be released in 2025. The Legion Go Gen 2, on the other hand, will come with an AMD Zen5 and RDNA 3.5.

The APU listed is a Ryzen Z2 Extreme with eight cores. An AMD Radeon 890M should ensure outstanding graphics. Here too, a release is expected next year. However, there is still no official information from Lenovo itself.
