Lenovo Tab P11 Pro Screen Problems Identified

The Lenovo Tab P11 Pro is an interesting alternative to the Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 and Apple iPad Pro at a price of around 600 euros. It has an 11.5-inch, high-resolution OLED display, a fast CPU and can optionally be equipped with an active Stylus and a keyboard can be used. On closer inspection, however, two major problems with the screen become clear, which is why the tablet is not recommended, at least at the retail price set by the manufacturer.

Display not as sharp as expected

Lenovo equips its current top tablet with an 11.5-inch OLED screen. Thanks to its strong colours and deep black, the tablet is ideal for watching movies. The resolution is 2560 x 1600 pixels. A good value, but texts and icons don’t look as sharp as you would actually expect. This becomes particularly clear in a direct comparison with others, sometimes even low-resolution, devices. This is likely to be due to the display’s pentile matrix. Another problem arises as soon as you hold the tablet upright: When scrolling, you notice a “jelly” effect, actually straight lines then no longer look straight.

Otherwise, the tablet can convince. Design and workmanship are good, access can either be protected via the fingerprint reader housed in the power button or the 8-megapixel front camera with the infrared sensor via face recognition. The 13-megapixel main camera takes decent photos and the four speakers have good sound quality. The battery life does not give cause for criticism either.

With the Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G and 6GB RAM, the Lenovo Tab P11 Pro shows a decent performance that is also sufficient for most current games. Overall, it has to be beaten by the significantly faster Galaxy Tab S7. Android 10 is preinstalled. If you want, you can switch to a desktop-like productivity mode and also set up a child mode. As optional accessories, Lenovo offers both an attachable keyboard with touchpad and stand and an active pen, the Lenovo Precision Pen 2.
