Lenovo’s first notebook with a rollable display

It is no longer a secret that Lenovo will probably present the new ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 at CES 2025 as the first commercially available notebook with a rollable OLED display that can be enlarged at the touch of a button. A new leak now provides more details.

Now there is at least some hardware information

Again Ober-Leaker has Evan Blass published information about a new Lenovo laptop called Think Book Plus G6 via its social media channels. This supplemented his earlier leak, in which he had already provided a whole series of official marketing images of the notebook with the extendable screen.

In the “normal” state, the diagonal of the display on the ThinkBook Plus Gen 6, which can be extended at the push of a button using a motorized construction, is 14 inches. This makes the device suitable for mobile use, but if you need a little more space, the panel can be extended and expanded to a maximum screen diagonal of 16.7 inches.

Lenovo had already demonstrated this concept for the first time at CES 2023 in the form of a prototype. Since then, a lot has been invested in making the construction more robust; after all, the OLED panel made of plastic is probably the device’s biggest weak point.

According to Blass, the display is extended using a key combination or a gesture. In terms of hardware, the ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 will be based on an Intel Core Ultra 7 chip from the new 200 series, offering up to 32 gigabytes of RAM, according to Blass. In keeping with this, SSDs with a terabyte or more are likely to be on board.

The leaker has not yet revealed any details about the capacity of the battery installed here. Lenovo repeatedly uses the ThinkBook Plus series to try out unusual designs or hardware concepts. The ThinkBook Plus Gen 5 was recently brought onto the market, which is a hybrid of Windows laptop and Android tablet in the format of a 2-in-1 device. There were previously variants in which a second display in the form of an E-Ink panel was attached to the outside of the display lid or next to the keyboard.
