A leaked image shows the board of the supposed flagship GPU. There are several interesting details that confirm previous rumors about maximum power consumption and RAM configuration.
The presentation of the GeForce RTX 5090 is getting closer and closer. In less than two weeks, the first Blackwell GPU will be presented by Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang at CES 2025. The model, which leads the lineup as the most powerful variant ahead of the also expected RTX 5080 and RTX 5070 Ti, has been the subject of numerous speculations for months. Now a first image has leaked, which comes from Chinese Chiphell forum.
However, the complete graphics card cannot be seen on it, as it would probably be presented at the CES keynote. But perhaps even more interestingly, the photo shows the supposed PCB of the RTX 5090. The image could come directly from a production facility of the American hardware manufacturer PNY, which produces components for Nvidia. This is indicated by the label “PNY 5090 V1.0 100-1G145-DFAA-AF2”, which can be seen in the lower right corner of the board.
The photo also shows production-related overhangs on the PCB that have not yet been removed, such as the bottom left. There are actually two boards for the RTX 5090 that are mirrored together.
What is particularly striking is the massive package that offers space for the GB202 GPU of the RTX 5090. The photos show that the area is not entirely square, which confirms previous leaks that said it measured 63 x 56 millimeters.
The 16 photographed slots for the GDDR7 modules also confirm the information about 32 GB of RAM that the graphics card should be equipped with. As usual, they are distributed around the GPU. The PCI slot also indicates the use of PCI Express 5.0.
The maximum power consumption is revealed by the twelve contact surfaces of a 12V 2×6 connection. The graphics card can be supplied with a maximum of 600 watts. In comparison to the GeForce RTX 4090 Founders Edition, Nvidia apparently foregoes using the striking arrow-shaped PCB design again.
According to the latest information, the market launch for the GeForce RTX 5090 will only take place a few weeks after the presentation at CES 2025 on January 6th. A date between the end of January and mid-February is currently expected. The first GPU of the Blackwell generation, the RTX 5080, should be in stores in mid-January. Nvidia may expect better sales figures for the 80 series as a result.
