Microsoft 64-Bit OneDrive Now Available For More Users

Last month in April, Microsoft has already confirmed that it plans to introduce a 64-bit version of OneDrive to improve the overall experience of this cloud storage service on Windows 10. According to the latest news released by the management center, the 64-bit OneDrive has been postponed to mid-April and is expected to complete the promotion in mid-May (later this week).

The new version of OneDrive is specifically designed for people with school, family, and business accounts, and is a supplement to the existing 32-bit version. If you are currently using a 32-bit or 64-bit version of Windows, you can continue to be compatible with the 32-bit OneDrive program.

But if you want to transfer large files or need to transfer a large number of files, then it is recommended to run the new 64-bit OneDrive client on 64-bit Windows 10. This is because Windows 10 computers with 64-bit processors have more resources and can handle additional processing power. Therefore, 64-bit applications can also perform better and improve the overall synchronization process.

Updated To 64-bit Automatically

Microsoft said: “We are providing a 64-bit version of the OneDrive sync client for Windows. This update will be promoted from mid-April to mid-May (previously the end of April). We will silently change user devices from 32 The bit version is updated to the 64-bit version. All functions are the same as the 32-bit installation.

You can verify the configuration of the device at any time by going to Settings>System>About. Under “Device Specifications”, look for the system type and confirm whether the processor is 32-bit or 64-bit. Once upgraded, the OneDrive desktop will be able to perform better on supported systems and get more resources, which should speed up the backup and synchronization process, especially when you have a large number of files.
