Microsoft announced to release updates for Edge as fast as 4- weeks, it is similar to what Google recently rolled out.
Google has just announced that it is going to pace up a little more and reduce the time to send updates within a period of 4-weeks, instead of a 6-weeks period.
Following the giant, Microsoft said they would start the early-update cycle with Microsoft Edge 94, which is expected to come in September.
In a recent blog post, Microsoft said:
To help our enterprise customers who need an extended timeline to manage updates, Microsoft Edge will offer an Extended Stable option aligned to a longer, 8-week major release cycle; this option will only be available for customers with managed environments,
According to this update, enterprise customers would get a default update cycle of 4-week. However, they could extend this period to 8-weeks, if they don’t wish to get updated so soon. On the other hand, security updates would be available fortnightly.
Microsoft Edge has already received so many updated this year, so far, including vertical tabs, themes, and history and tab sync. The company has also introduced sleeping tabs, designed to boost browser performance by improving memory and CPU resource usage.
