Microsoft Explorer Crash Fixed In a New Windows 11 Beta Preview

Microsoft recently released the first major update for Windows 11, the autumn update also brings numerous interesting innovations. But in Redmond, Windows work rarely stands still and so the group is now releasing Build 22621.741 and 22623.741.

As usual, the company announced this in a post on the Windows blog. The fact that there are two versions of this beta channel preview is also common. With build 22623.741 the new features are on by default, with build 22621.741 they are disabled by default.

However, there are currently no new features on the program anyway, at least nothing new will be added with the versions that have now been distributed. Instead, Microsoft distributes various fixes. This also includes a fundamental fix, as the Redmond company writes: Because Windows Insiders who are on Build 22622.601 and did not see Build 22623.730 should now be able to restart and be offered this new build.

Bug Fixes in Build 22623.741:

Tablet-optimized taskbar (where active)

• We fixed an issue resulting in the taskbar sometimes collapsing when it should be expanded when there are no running windows on the desktop.
• We fixed an issue when using the left or right edge gestures that resulted in the widgets or notification center overlapping or clipping from the taskbar.
• Fixed an issue that caused the tablet-optimized taskbar to crash explorer.exe when entering the overflow flyout.

System tray updates

• Fixed an issue so that quick settings items can once again be rearranged by touch.

Fixes for both Build 22621.741 and Build 22623.741:

• We fixed an issue affecting Server Manager. It could reset the wrong disk if multiple disks have the same UniqueId.
• We fixed localization issues with some setup files. These issues could prevent you from creating installation media for non-English languages.

General

• We’re investigating reports that some Insiders’ audio is no longer working in recent builds of the Beta Channel.

Tablet-optimized taskbar

• The taskbar sometimes blinks when switching between desktop and tablet positions.
• The taskbar takes longer than expected to switch to the touch-optimized version when switching between desktop and tablet positions.
• When you use the gesture at the bottom right to bring up quick settings, the taskbar sometimes gets stuck in the expanded state instead of switching to the collapsed state.
