Microsoft Schedules Anniversary Update For Flight Simulator

On November 11th, Microsoft will release the long-awaited “40th Anniversary” update for its Flight Simulator. The Redmond company will announce the exact schedule in advance. The anniversary patch will bring helicopters and gliders into the game, among other things.

According to the recently published global release times, hobby pilots in the EU can take to the runway on Friday (November 11) from 5 p.m. and benefit from the new content. Parallel to the Anniversary Update, Sim Update 11 will be imported, which will also provide various bug fixes and improvements. So far it is unclear whether the developers will offer a pre-download (preload) or whether players can only start the installation after publication.

Helicopters, gliders, airliners, and more

The 40th Anniversary Edition of Microsoft Flight Simulator is offered free of charge to all owners of the game and subscribers to the PC or Xbox Game Pass. In addition to a probably graphic rejuvenation, the focus will be on helicopters and gliders, which have been high on the wish list of the community since the release of the main game. In addition, the Redmond company is bringing the Airbus A310 into the air as a new airliner.

In line with the introduction of the new aircraft, the update contains a total of 14 helipads and ten glider pads. Furthermore, the 40th anniversary of the flight simulator is celebrated with a little nostalgia. Not only modern but also historic aircraft are included, including the Wright Flyer, the Ryan NYP Spirit of St. Louis, the Douglas DC-3, the Havilland DHC-2 Beaver, the Grumman G-21 Goose, and the famous Hughes H-4 Hercules – the largest wooden seaplane ever made. The Anniversary Update will reach both Windows PCs and the Xbox Series X/S. On November 11th and via cloud gaming (Xbox Game Pass Ultimate) also older computers, the Xbox One consoles, and even smartphones.
