Microsoft Starts Warning About End OF Support Windows 10 21H1

Microsoft is now reminding users that support for Windows 10 , version 21H1 is ending. The end of support is scheduled for December, when this version will no longer receive any security or quality updates. Now it’s time to update.

A few weeks ago, the Windows team published the first notifications about the upcoming end of support for Windows 10 21H1 as part of Patch Day.

With the next patch day in December, Windows 10 version 21H1 will reach the specified “End of Servicing” deadline. Please note that the regular support period is expiring. The regular support period describes the time in which Microsoft provides monthly patch day updates and can offer full support.

Waiting for a forced update?

The last planned update will therefore be delivered on December 13, 2022. Microsoft’s standard practice is to first notify users of the end of support and then automatically upgrade them to the latest version later if the hardware is supported by the newer version and the user has not responded.

There is no announcement for a “forced update” yet. If you want, you can of course switch to Windows 11 right away. Remaining on an unsupported version is generally not recommended.

End of service for Windows 10, version 21H1

Windows 10, version 21H1 will reach end of maintenance on December 13, 2022. This applies to all editions of Windows 10, version 21H1 released in May 2021:

• Windows 10 Enterprise, version 21H1
• Windows 10 Enterprise Multisession, version 21H1
• Windows 10 Education, version 21H1
• Windows 10 IoT Enterprise, version 21H1
• Windows 10 Home version 21H1
• Windows 10 Pro, version 21H1
• Windows 10 Pro for Education, version 21H1
• Windows 10 Pro for workstations, version 21H1

These editions will no longer receive security updates after December 13, 2022. Customers contacting Microsoft Support after this date will be instructed to update their device to the latest version of Windows 10 or Windows 11 to continue receiving support.
