Microsoft Surface Duo To launch In Europe By Feb For 1299 Euros

Microsoft wants to offer its first “smartphone”, which the company prefers to call a kind of hybrid device, in Europe from February. Corporate customers will be able to order the dual-screen device with the Android operating system from the middle of next month.

Officially, Microsoft recently only spoke of a planned launch of the Surface Duo in Europe in the first quarter of 2021. The dual-screen smartphone with Android is currently only available in the USA, where it is available for prices starting at around $ 1,399. According to dealer data, it could also be available in Europe from the middle or end of February.

According to the information we have, the first dealers have already started adding the Surface Duo to their product databases. As in the USA, two variants with either 128 or 256 gigabytes of internal flash memory are to be offered in this country.

Specifically, one of the providers speaks of the availability of the Surface Duo from February 13, 2021. It should be noted, however, that Microsoft initially only wants to address corporate customers with the device in Europe, since all Surface Duo versions listed in Europe are expressly labelled with the “For Business” or “Commercial” is added.

For private customers, the product with its two 5.6-inch 1080p displays, which are connected in the middle by a hinged hinge, is only of limited appeal anyway. This is not least due to the relatively high prices, because according to our information you have to invest a considerable 1299 euros for the version with 128 GB of internal flash memory, while the model with 256 GB of memory should be available for a whole 1399 euros.

However, the information on prices and availability mentioned here has not yet been confirmed by Microsoft, so that, of course, something may change until the Surface Duo is actually available. Since Microsoft is concentrating on corporate customers with the Surface Duo in Europe, the device should only be available in “homoeopathic doses” – in other words, in very small quantities.
