Microsoft To Add Additional Features In Windows 11 22H2

As already announced, Microsoft has now added some functions for the Windows 11 2022 update. The new version 22H2 now gets tabs in Explorer, improvements for the taskbar and task manager, and much more.

With a new post on the Windows blog, Microsoft is now announcing the launch of the new functions that will be released exclusively for all users of Windows 11 Version 2022 aka 22H2. The update will later be listed in the knowledge base as KB5019509 and is an optional update with new features.

“We’re excited to deliver on our promise to bring you brand-new experiences with Windows 11. These new features and experiences will be available starting today in an optional, non-security pre-release and in a gradual rollout via our servicing technology and new apps through the Microsoft Store -Updates will be available so you can take advantage of the latest Windows experiences as these new features become available,” Microsoft said.

These innovations were originally supposed to start with the function update last month, but then the Windows team needed a little more time for testing. Anyone who has already switched to 22H2 could now benefit from new functions, but there is another small problem: Microsoft is not launching the long-awaited features all at once.

The update will bring the tabs into the file explorer. However, Microsoft writes today that “the timing of the delivery of features varies by device. The availability of features may also vary by market,” it says. The release is therefore sometimes not immediate. Distribution can take days, if not weeks. Users who want to try out the newly announced Suggested Actions feature will also have to wait. According to the current state of affairs, this will initially only start in the USA, Canada, and Mexico.

You can find more about the changes in the release notes at the end of the post. The new features will be made available with the November 2022 security update for all editions of Windows 11, version 22H2. Patch Day is scheduled for November 8th.
