The Nintendo Switch 2 has been no longer a secret for a long time, now render images and new details are causing a stir. A larger screen, improved Joy-Cons and other upgrades point to an exciting update, but you shouldn’t expect a revolution.
The rumor mill about the successor to the popular Nintendo Switch has been simmering for a long time, and now new renders and technical details are further fueling the speculation. According to the information, the Nintendo Switch 2 will be equipped with a significantly larger 8.4-inch display – a noticeable upgrade compared to the 7-inch OLED screen of the (still) current model.
The latest renders and a corresponding video show a familiar but refined design. The Joy-Con controllers seem a little larger and more ergonomic. A new U-shaped kickstand promises more stability in table mode. In addition to the headphone jack, an additional USB-C port can be seen on the top, which should make charging in handheld and table mode much easier.
OnLeaks, known for its consistently precise leaks before official product launches, has the render images for 91mobiles created. The leaker relies on new data, including the presumed dimensions of the console. With Joy-Cons, the Switch 2 is said to have dimensions of 235.5 x 99.3 x 14.5 millimeters, which makes it significantly larger than its predecessors.

A technical highlight could be support for the MicroSD Express format. With sequential read speeds of up to 800MB/s, this would be four times faster than traditional UHS-1 memory cards. This performance increase would bring the Switch 2 closer to the SSD speeds of PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S – also an important step for multiplatform gaming.
The renders reveal some interesting design details:
The Nintendo Switch, first released in 2017, revolutionized the gaming world with its hybrid concept. With over 140 million units sold (as of September 2024), it is one of the most successful game consoles of all time.
