OnePlus 10 Pro 5G: New top smartphone with Hasselblad camera

With the presentation of the OnePlus 10 Pro that night, OnePlus secured the honor of being the first manufacturer to present a new smartphone in 2022. However, the company did not provide all the details yet, just showed the design in advance. The OnePlus 10 Pro 5G is getting, as has now been confirmed, a newly designed camera module on the back, which is certainly a matter of taste. On the one hand, OnePlus leads the lines of the frame into the cover around the camera module and was obviously heavily inspired by Samsung’s design of the S21 and probably soon the S22 series.

On the other hand, the three main cameras are placed extremely prominently on the back and complemented by a ring-shaped flash with four LEDs. It is still unclear which specific configuration will be used here, although the Swedish camera specialist Hasselblad will generally optimize it.

The ‘real’ launch is yet to come

Earlier it was announced that OnePlus is integrating a 48-megapixel sensor for the main camera, while a 50-MP sensor for ultra-wide-angle shots and an 8-megapixel telephoto zoom camera will also be installed. There is also the usual combination of a high-quality metal frame and colored back. Allegedly, ceramic is used here instead of glass, so it remains to be seen how resistant the OnePlus 10 Pro 5G will be.

Inside the new top smartphone from the Oppo subsidiary, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen1 does its job, which should set new standards in terms of performance in Android devices. It is still open whether OnePlus will manage to keep its alleged heat problems under control. The top SoC is combined with 12 gigabytes of RAM and 256 GB of internal flash memory. On the front, there is a probably 6.7-inch AMOLED display with QHD + resolution and an adaptive refresh rate of up to 120 Hertz. The official market launch of the OnePlus 10 Pro 5G will start on January 11th, initially only serving China.

OnePlus will not make the new device available in other countries until a later date in February or March. Incidentally, there should initially only be two color variants in “Volcano Black” (black) and “Emerald Forest” (green).
