OnePlus is ‘dead’: Oppo wants to soon announce its withdrawal from the EU & USA

OnePlus will soon be history. At least in Europe and the USA. What has been apparent for weeks and months is likely to become a certainty this week. A corresponding announcement should be made in the coming days.

The first indications of the end were already in January

The US portal took care of this months ago Android headlines caused an uproar when it was announced, citing well-informed sources, that the Chinese smartphone brand OnePlus, which was once launched as a “flagship killer”, would be liquidated. Since then, reports have been increasing and signs of an imminent end are increasing. When colleagues first reported on the quiet farewell to OnePlus in January, there was a lot of headwind, especially from die-hard fans of the brand. There was also only an official denial from OnePlus itself, although it turned out a little later that what the manufacturer dismissed as a rumor was actually nothing other than the truth.

Rumors soon become certainty

It was already heard in March 2026 that OnePlus would soon cease operations in Europe and the USA, while gradually more and more employees either left the company completely or took on new tasks elsewhere in the parent company Oppo. Most recently there was talk of a revision of the “regional roadmap” in Europe, before increasing attempts have been made in recent weeks to redirect visitors to the European OnePlus websites to Oppo. This week marks the death knell for OnePlus in Europe and the USA. According to our well-informed sources, we now hear that OnePlus and its parent company Oppo want to announce fundamental changes in the strategy around OnePlus this week. What once again sounds like a lot of marketing talk is nothing more than the exit from important markets and the farewell to OnePlus as we knew it before.

Official withdrawal will be announced this week

The OnePlus brand will therefore disappear from the market in Europe and the USA. The announcement is currently being prepared in the coming days, which will likely seal OnePlus’ fate in Europe. Company representatives have not yet revealed the specific reasons for OnePlus’ exit in western markets during closed-door discussions with the press. In Europe in particular, Oppo should instead penetrate other markets, with the parent company taking over the pioneering role from OnePlus. Concrete details about Oppo’s expansion have not yet been given, but this has become increasingly apparent in the last few weeks and months after the end of the sales ban.

Support & updates for sold devices continue

For end customers and fans of the OnePlus brand in Europe and the USA, the question arises as to what will happen next for the brand in this country. In discussions with press representatives, OnePlus and Oppo recently made it clear that although they want to continue to offer support and updates for the devices that have already been sold until the end of their respective life cycles, they definitely do not want to introduce any new OnePlus products in Europe and the USA.

Remaining stocks are sold off

The OnePlus products that are currently still in the sales channels are expected to be sold in the coming weeks and months, although no more supplies are expected. Almost all stocks in OnePlus’ European online stores are currently sold out. There will soon no longer be any OnePlus products available in free trade.

As far as other markets such as India and China are concerned, OnePlus and Oppo also kept a low profile in recent press discussions. With regard to these regions, there have recently been rumors that the brand will increasingly be continued as a simple product range from the parent company Oppo, with cheaper smartphones and tablets in particular finding their way into the remaining markets.

After its founding in 2013, OnePlus brought the OnePlus One onto the market in 2014, an impressively well-equipped smartphone that offered the same features as significantly more expensive devices at a comparatively low price and also came with the Android variant CyanogenMod, which was once only available as a custom ROM and was comparatively easy to customize. Over the years, the company has been able to bring interesting and mostly comparatively cheap devices onto the market, but recently it has largely lost its independence, so that devices like the OnePlus 15 are basically just adapted versions of Oppo products.
