Optional updates available for newer Windows 10 versions

Microsoft has now added an optional, non-security update for the newer Windows 10 versions quite early. This is the preview for the June patch day. At first glance, only bug fixes are included. The new update starts for users of Windows 10 versions 21H2 and 21H1 in the release preview channel. These updates fix a number of issues that emerged after patch day or some of which have been known for a long time. These are non-security updates later listed in the Knowledge Base as KB5014023. However, Microsoft has not yet published descriptions of the updates.

We do not yet know the details of the changes. This is almost normal with this kind of update and has happened again and again for the past few months. If details about the content are available in a timely manner, we will submit them later. At first glance, however, there are no innovations. The official May patches only started at the beginning of the week.

Further updates usually don’t happen until the next one to two weeks. These previews or optional updates correspond to the prerelease versions of Windows previously released as C updates. If nothing is wrong, the bug fixes contained therein will be automatically distributed to all users on patch day in June. Until then, they will launch as optional updates for all users, likely in the second half of May.

However, Microsoft does not start the distribution right away, as it does with the security-related updates. The update brings builds 19043.1737 and Windows 10 19044.1737. The Windows team is testing several bug fixes and improvements with these updates.
