Optional Windows 11 Update Failing for Many Users

Microsoft had already released an optional Windows 11 update in June that should, among other things, fix an installation problem. However, based on user feedback, this update often fails. That reports that Neowin online magazine This is about the update KB5014668 (Build 22000.776) released by Microsoft in June for the Windows 11 Release Preview channel. According to Microsoft, the new build brings a number of innovations and bug fixes. The list of changes also includes an error that could cause the operating system upgrade to fail. The change log says:

Release notes

We fixed an issue that could cause an upgrade to Windows 11 (original version) to fail.

The build is part of the preview releases for Patch Day. The changes presented there should actually be released to all Windows 11 users next week on July 12. But now it seems that at least the update error can’t be fixed yet.

As usual with the builds in the Release Preview channel, Microsoft is collecting feedback, and this feedback is now pretty clear: the KB5014668 update won’t even install on some PCs. The user reports in the Feedback Hub are mostly negative on this point. Many users are already complaining in Microsoft’s Answers Forum about the ongoing problem. Until now, there was no easy solution, so many of those affected are waiting for a bug fix from the Windows team.

Hoping for a bug fix update

In the forum, you will find a tip that should come directly from Microsoft support. Accordingly, the update issues can be resolved by an internal upgrade.
