Pakistan to have 146 million smartphone connections by 2025
According to Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) Association, Pakistan is expected to have 146 million smartphone connections by 2025. It will register a 14% increase in ranking since 2018.
The “Mobile Economy 2019” report of GSMA reveals that by 2025 China will lead in the list of smartphone connections followed by India, Indonesia, USA, Brazil, Russia, Japan, Pakistan, Nigeria, and Bangladesh. As per GSMA by 2025.

- China will have 1,458 million smartphone connections
- India will have 1171 million smartphone connections
- Indonesia will have 410 million smartphone connections
- USA will have 346 million smartphone connections
- Brazil will have 204 million smartphone connections
- Russia will have 187 million smartphone connections
- Japan will have 162 million smartphone connections
- Pakistan will have 146 million smartphone connections
- Nigeria will have 143 million smartphone connections
- Bangladesh will have 134 million smartphone connections
The percentage of new subscribers worldwide by 2025 will be 24% in India, 8% in China, 4% in Nigeria, 3% in Indonesia, 3% in US, 3% in Brazil. But, the GSMA report stated that “Connected Women, The Mobile Gender Gap Report 2019” presented a sad picture of the women connectivity through mobile in Pakistan.
Women in Pakistan had 37% less ownership of mobile phones as compared to men. After Pakistan, Bangladesh has the widest women and men mobile ownership gap.
