Paramount+ debuts in Europe, France will have to wait

Paramount+, the streaming service of the famous American film studio, has just made its debut in Ireland and the United Kingdom. As for France, the launch of the platform is still scheduled for December 2022, via Canal+

After Disney+, Netflix and Amazon Prime Video, Paramount+ will be one of the next streaming services to enter the French market alongside a certain HBO MAX. Thanks to a partnership with Canal+, the service will be available from December 2022. Fact, subscribers to the Ciné Séries packages benefit from unlimited access to the platform Of course it is possible to subscribe to the service without being a customer of the encrypted channel. While awaiting its arrival in France, know that the platform has just celebrated with great fanfare launching in Ireland and the United Kingdom on June 22, 2022.

Several stars will be walking the red carpet for the occasion, such as Sylvester Stallone. According to Tom Ryan, CEO of Paramount Streaming, Paramout+ is “a mountain of family entertainment, the only service where you can see Sylvester Stallone, SpongeBob SquarePants, Star Trek and South Park all in one place, and everything it makes. Paramount+ what a streaming service should be.”

Paramount+ chooses diverse and local programs

In hopes of standing out from the many competitors present in the market, Paramount+ has developed a simple yet effective strategy based on diversity and location:

  • 9,000 hours of programming available at launch, featuring series and movies from various Paramount studios such as ShowTime, Paramount Pictures, Comedy Central, MTV, and Nickelodeon
  • Invest in local programs to offer series/movies that can meet the expectations of subscribers in each country (the UK already ordered 2o series made in the UK)

The streaming service has already announced its ambitions: Developing no less than 150 exclusive international original content by 2025† The production of series and films with the Paramount + stamp will be in the hands of VIS, the international studio of Paramount. “Paramount’s story began with the oldest studio in Hollywood, and today we span the globe with our global production studios creating hits for audiences around the world who now live in one place: Paramount+”.

As for the pricing policy, Paramount+ is available for €7.99 per month in or €79.90/year in Ireland. Unless there is a last minute surprise, these prices should be the same for France. In summary, this is a positioning quite close to that of Disney+, with a monthly price of less than €10. Something to be attractive, without necessarily selling the service.
