Previously, we heard that Foxconn is going to build a new iPhone production plant in India. Now another Apple supplier is likely to build its new production plant in the region.

Pegatron is another iPhone manufacturer. Recent pieces of information suggest that Pegatron is going to increase its production facilities in India. Some reports indicate that the company has already started the discussion regarding the new factory.

Back in 2020, Pegatron registered a local subsidiary in India. Since then, the company is making efforts to increase its presence in the country. The company is reportedly going to make an initial investment of $150 million in the country. Besides this, the company has already spent $14 million for acquiring the factory land. Where the factory was opened last year in September.

A recent report from Reuters suggests that the company is planning to increase its manufacturing capacity in India. In the report, two unnamed sources were mentioned. The report indicates that the company is discussing leasing a facility within Mahindra World City near Chennai. It will be in close vicinity of the existing plant only 200 miles away from New Delhi.

One source in the report states that the new factory will be dedicated to the assembly of the latest iPhones. Well, there are no official details regarding this from both companies. Furthermore, Pegatron states that they will unveil the details in accordance with the regulations.

It is evident that similar to other Apple suppliers, Pegatron is working to find ways that will lessen the dependence on China specifically concerning the US/China trade tensions.
