People Switching To Windows 10 versions Rather than Windows 11

Despite many problems that Windows 11 still suffers from, the market share of the new operating system is steadily increasing and the change is gaining momentum. In terms of user share, the latest version of Windows 10 is comparable to Windows 11. This is based on the latest figures from the advertising marketer Adduplex  Since there are no official numbers on Microsoft’s market distribution, Adduplex’s monthly analysis is an interesting barometer of which Windows versions are popular.

Windows 11’s market share grew to about 19 percent in February. The new version of Windows 11 is now almost at the level of the latest Windows 10 version 21H2 (21 percent) in terms of user numbers. However, Windows 10 21H2 is more popular – the number of users is increasing there from week to week than Windows 11.

19.3 percent have already arrived with Windows 11

In principle, this is not a big surprise after the figures that have become known in recent months about the market distribution of Windows 11. Anyone who meets the necessary hardware requirements has switched quite early. However, a large proportion of users will likely move to a newer Windows 10 version (for example, due to the approaching end of support for their Windows version).

Who changes?

According to Adduplex, 19.3 percent of users tracked were already using the final version of Windows 11 in February, plus 0.3 percent were using a pre-release version of Windows 11 in the Insider Program. 19.6 percent have arrived at Windows 11, meaning nearly every fifth Windows user has used the upgrade. However, most users are currently stuck with Windows 10 version 21H1, the so-called May 2021 update. That was 27.5 percent in February, compared to 17.9 percent still using Windows 10 20H2 version.

That was it with the Windows 10 versions, which are still fully supported by Microsoft, the support period for all others have already expired. Until recently, the 2004 version was delivered with security updates and still has a market share of 7.9 percent. The other Windows 10 versions (versions 1507, 1511, 1607, 1703, 1709, 1803, 1809, 1903, 1909) have only very small shares. Together they come to only 6.2 percent. The new data comes from February’s analysis of advertising promoter Adduplex. Approximately 60,000 PCs running Windows 10 or Windows 11 were evaluated for February 2022.
