PTA decides to unblock TikTok in Pakistan

On Monday, news came out that the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has decided to lift a temporary ban on the popular short video-sharing Chinese app TikTok.

According to the details, a spokesperson for the authority confirmed that the decision was made following an assurance by the TikTok management to stand by Pakistan’s laws and block accounts uploading indecent and immoral content.

The spokesperson further said that an official notification regarding the restoration of the app will be issued shortly.

On October 9, the PTA (Pakistan Telecommunication Authority) has imposed a ban on TikTok in the country.

PTA in a statement said that they were receiving complaints from different segments of the society against immoral/indecent content on the video-sharing application. For this reason, they had to make the move. It further added that it has issued instructions for blocking the application.

On the other hand, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has resumed all post COVID-19 activities in order to boost tourism in the province.
