Qualcomm Snapdragon X65 5G Modem Exposed With 10Gbps Download Speed

The notorious processor and chipmaker Qualcomm has unveiled a new Snapdragon X65 5G Modem-RF System, reportedly the device is built on a new 4nm process and hits 10Gbps download speed easily.

According to the details, the new Snapdragon X65 was developed with premium mobile and other devices in mind, like flagship smartphones, PCs, industrial Internet of Things, as well as 5G private networks.

Along with the Snapdragon X65 chip — that provide speeds up to 10Gbps –, the modem is equipped with a newly designed RF Front End (RFFE) solution and mmWave antenna module.

The new antenna module, according to Qualcomm, provides the modem with both sub-6GHz and “extended-range 5G” mmWave connectivity to enable users to aggregate sub-6GHz when 5G networks are unavailable.

The chipmaker says that the new antenna module also uses artificial intelligence (AI) to increase accuracy in detecting hand grips by 30% as compared to the previous generation of modems.

Qualcomm also claims that the modem with new RFFE solution is able to provide devices with “all-day battery life”, which means the modem will help devices consume less battery as compared to older modems.

In addition to the Snapdragon X65, Qualcomm also announced the Snapdragon X62 5G Modem-RF system, which can provide download speeds up to 4.4Gbps. Unlike its faster Qualcomm counterpart, however, the Snapdragon X62 5G is targeted towards lower-end devices.

Both the Snapdragon X65 and Snapdragon X62 have already been sent to equipment manufacturers and are expected to be used in devices set for launch later this year.

Qualcomm’s vice president Ziad Ashar responsible for looking product management said the Snapdragon 888 is aimed at “always-on” use cases with shared memory to move data with better performance per watt.

Late last year, Qualcomm launched its latest Snapdragon 888 5G platform, which is expected to come in flagship smartphones in 2021.
