Realme GT Neo 5: charges full in less than ten minutes with 240W fast charging technology

Over the span of the previous few years, Chinese smartphone companies have been competing to introduce the fastest charging speed. At MWC 2022, Realme introduced 150W fast charging technology. Soon after this, the company unveiled the GT Neo 3. Reportedly, the GT Neo 3 has a 4,500mAh battery. The company claimed that the battery could be charged in just five minutes from 0% to 50%.

Well, after this everyone could have been thinking that such a fast charging capacity is bliss. What else could one need? But it appears that Chinese companies have the taste to go beyond things and unveil interesting stuff. Yes, Realme has once again surprised consumers by introducing a phone that has support for 240W fast charging.

As per the company, the GT Neo 5 is going to be the first mass-manufactured smartphone to have support for 240W charging speeds. Reportedly, it is the same speed with which the USB-C standard was designed. The Neo 5 will be supplied with a 12A custom charging cable and a 240W dual GaN mini charger. It is also the first time in the smartphone industry that a phone will be shipped with a custom charging cable.

The smartphone manufacturer Realme alleges that it has utilized a 4,600mAh 10C ultra-thin electrode battery on the Neo 5. Thus, it confirms that the smartphone can efficiently deal with high-power input. The company claims that the smartphone can charge up to 50% in just a timespan of four minutes. Whereas a complete charge will require a time period of fewer than ten minutes.

Besides this, the design is another interesting feature of the latest smartphone. It has a transparent rear square. The rear panel is customizable with RGB pulse lightning. Moreover, the smartphone consists of an NFC sensor, mainboard, and C-shaped lighting ring. It is fueled by a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip. It has up to 16GB RAM and 1TB storage. The display measures 6.74-inch 10bit FHD+ AMOLED. It offers a 144Hz refresh rate. The rear is provided with a triple-camera setup. It consists of a 50MP primary shooter, an 8MP ultra-wide, and a 2MP macro sensor. A 16MP selfie camera is also included.

Besides this, the company has introduced another variant of the smartphone that features a bigger 5,000mAh battery. However, it supports a slightly slower 150W charging speed. Furthermore, it is provided with up to 256GB of storage and 8/12GB RAM.

The 240W version of GT Neo 5 is available for 3,199 yuan ($470). Whereas the 150W version is priced at 2,599 yuan ($385). It is anticipated that the company will soon introduce the smartphone in the global market. However, no official date has been provided yet.
