RedMagic 9 Pro and Pro Plus are now official

The RedMagic 9 Pro and RedMagic 9 Pro Plus are the first smartphones by RedMagic that come without rear camera humps and punch-hole front cameras. The company says it has created a one-piece glass back with “32%” more scratch resistance, combining the qualities of camera lenses.

Under the glass, two 50MP primary/ultrawide-angle lens cameras, along with a small 2MP macro lens, can be found. The display of the Pro and the Pro Plus variants is a 6.8-inch FHD+ flat panel. The display specs are almost identical to the ones presented on the 8S Pro. Expectedly, it is a fifth-generation UDC panel that comes with Q9+ technology with a peak brightness of 1,600 nits. It is supplied by BOE.

The company claims that the new series offers an experience beyond e-sports. Even with its upgrades to 520Hz with “+20% sensitivity” and 22,000 rpm speeds with a new “waterfall duct” design, the RGB-augmented ICE active cooling systems and shoulder buttons remain in place. It is claimed that these improvements, along with the Red Core R2 Pro co-processor for the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, would maintain frame rates up to 60 frames per second in titles like Genshin Impact.

It seems like the 9 Pro and Pro Plus are the same smartphones, with the exception of the new 6,500mAh battery. However, the trade-off of comparatively slow 80W charging for this new all-time-high capacity is likely the reason the new specification is exclusive to the 9 Pro. A 5,500mAh battery with support for 165W wired charging can be found on the 9 Pro Plus. Furthermore, it is the only smartphone by RedMagic that comes with 24GB of RAM and a 1TB internal storage SKU. It comes in Dark Night Knight and is priced at 6,999 yuan (~US$983).

Whereas the RedMagic 9 Pro comes in only one variant, i.e., 8GB or 256GB, at a price of 4,300 yuan (~US$618). It comes in two colors: Transparent Dark Night or Transparent Silver Wings, with 12GB of RAM and a 4,999 yuan (~US$703) price tag. On the other hand, the opaque and transparent versions of the RedMagic 9 Pro Plus with 16GB of RAM are priced at 5,499 yuan (~US$772) or 5,699 yuan (~US$800), respectively. The two new flagship smartphones can be pre-ordered in China right now, and they should soon be making their way, in one way or another, to the international market.
