Resident Evil Death Island Animated Movie Trailer Released

With Resident Evil: Death Island, fans of the series can look forward to another feature-length animated film later this year. This then tells a completely new story in which five well-known characters from the video games meet. Now there is the first trailer and even a start date – the latter initially only for the Japanese market.

CGI anime turns Alcatraz into Death Island

In addition to several cinema films and an unsuccessful Netflix series, Resident Evil has already produced several animated films in the past. After the most recent Resident Evil: Vendetta (2017) and the mini-series Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness (2021), Resident Evil: Death Island is another offshoot in the starting blocks that will make fans sit up and take notice because the “cast” is quite something.

A lot is already known about the story and it takes place in several locations: In the USA, Leon S. Kennedy is pursuing an armed group that kidnapped the informant Antonio Taylor. However, through the intervention of a mysterious woman, Leon initially loses track of the kidnappers.

Meanwhile, counter-bioterrorism agents Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine, along with consultant Rebecca Chambers, investigate a zombie outbreak in San Francisco whose origins are initially unknown. Research by Chris’ sister Claire Redfield revealed, however, that all victims of the virus previously visited a commonplace, namely the prison island of Alcatraz. Ultimately, Chris and his group follow this trail without knowing what awaits them on “Death Island”.

In Japan, Resident Evil: Death Island or Biohazard: Death Island will start in cinemas on July 7, 2023.
