Rockstar confirms the GTA 6 leak and hacker attack

Game publisher Rockstar Games has confirmed the authenticity of content released over the weekend related to the highly anticipated title GTA 6. The company was very disappointed and explained that the leak actually goes back to a hack.

Like Rockstar Games in one tweet stated that the content now released is in fact “early development footage” of the upcoming title in the Grand Theft Auto series. According to the confirmation, an attacker stole the data from internal company sources. GTA 6 Leak: Video Fast Food Restaurant.

One does not assume that the hack and the publications related to GTA 6 could cause long-term damage to the product and services such as GTA Online. Nevertheless, one is “extremely disappointed” that so many details about the game, which is currently still in development, have found their way onto the Internet in this way.

Rockstar Promises More Information Soon

Rockstar also promised to release more information about the game “soon”. The development of GTA VI should now continue as planned, it was also said. The company has not yet provided any further information about how the incident could have happened. Meanwhile, publisher Take-Two Interactive is trying to take various measures against the leak.

The portal GTAForums, through which the content was first made available on the Internet over the weekend, was requested to delete the data immediately since the material is protected by copyright. The operators confirmed that this request would be followed. A large number of the videos published on YouTube and other platforms have now been deleted with reference to copyright claims.

The leak uses around 90 videos to show what a very early pre-release version of GTA 6 looks like, including developer tools and other details. Among other things, the leak confirms that the main scene will again be in the city of “Vice City”, i.e. a virtual copy of the US metropolis Miami.
