RTX 4080 Super PC at Aldi: Is it worth buying?
The discounters are now selling a new gaming PC in the joint online shop of Aldi Nord and Aldi Süd. The well-known Medion Erazer Mechanic X20 returns with 14th generation Intel Core i9, 32 GB RAM and Nvidia GeForce RTX 4080 Super.
Core i9 system with RTX 4080 Super
While Aldi and Co. have recently focused mainly on budget gaming PCs and gaming notebooks, the discounter is now presenting another high-end configuration with the RTX 4080 Super. The price tag of the new desktop system is in the expected premium segment: interested parties have to invest around 2,800 euros.
The system is powered by a very powerful Intel Core i9-14900KF, which is equipped with a total of 24 cores (including 8 performance and 16 efficiency cores) as well as 32 threads and a 36 MB Intel Smart Cache. The processor clocks at up to 6.0 GHz. Additional features include 32 GB of DDR5 RAM from the Kingston Fury Beast RGB series with speeds of up to 6,000 MT/s and a WD Black SN770 NVMe SSD that offers 2 TB of storage space.
Medion Erazer Mechanic The Gigabyte Z790 Aorus Elite AX forms the basis of the system and offers modern connectivity through Wi-Fi 6E and fast 2.5 Gbit LAN. A 360 mm AiO water cooling system with a display, probably from Alphacool, is supposed to ensure effective cooling of the processor, while a Seasonic Focus GX-1000 power supply (1000 watts) is responsible for the power supply. Also on the data sheet: 13 USB ports including USB-C 3.2 Gen 2×2, HDMI 2.1a, DisplayPort 1.4a, Bluetooth, Windows 11 Home and the well-known In-Win housing with glass design.
Price and availability
The new Medion Erazer Mechanic X20 is now being offered by Aldi Nord and Aldi Süd in their joint online shop. Sales in local branches are not planned. The price is currently 2799 euros.
Is the Aldi PC cheaper than building your own?
The price for an identical system including installation of the components by the dealer is 2950 euros in the Alternate PC configurator, which is around 150 euros above the Aldi price. If you do it yourself and use the price comparison, you can of course save significantly more.
