Samsung and its subsidiaries are in hot water in China. A recent report indicates that BOE (Beijing Oriental Electronics) has initiated a flood of patent infringement lawsuits against the South Korean tech firm. This information was released around a month after the US ITC (International Trade Commission) decided to look into BOE for violating a Samsung Display patent.
Reports suggest that BOE is suing various subsidiaries of Samsung in China. Samsung Semiconductor, Samsung Investment, Samsung Vision, and other Samsung subsidiaries in China will be sued by BOE on account of patent infringement. The news was shared on the Chinese social network Weibo. However, there are no details about why BOE is filing lawsuits against Samsung.
It’s interesting to note that the latest US ITC inquiry into BOE took place after Samsung Display launched legal action against the USA repair market for low-cost displays supplied by Chinese panel manufacturers. Currently, BOE is battling Samsung and a number of its Chinese subsidiaries, some of which don’t even participate in the display production business.
Well, there are no possible explanations for BOE’s recent legal actions against Samsung. They might be following Samsung’s own steps from earlier this year by accident, or they might be a planned retaliation to those actions. Captain Mobile Parts, E-Tech Parts Plus, Gadget Fix, Injured Gadget, and other distributors were among the 17 that Samsung Display asked to be banned from the US repair market in January. On April 6, the US ITC opened a probe into BOE for violating a Samsung Display patent reports BusinessKorea.
