Samsung Announces Android 15 and One UI 7 Rollout Plans

Samsung has announced the start date for the One UI 7 update. Galaxy smartphones will receive the new Android 15 version in a few weeks. The update not only brings a revised design, but also new AI functions – but not for all devices.

New surface with AI in focus

Samsung confirms the official schedule for the update to one UI 7.0 based on Google Android 15. The rollout starts on April 7, 2025 for the current Galaxy-S24 series and the foldables z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6. The user interface was fundamentally revised for the use of artificial intelligence. The update brings a tidier start screen, redesigned widgets and optimized animations. A central innovation is the “Now Bar” on the blocking screen, which shows context-related real-time information such as current media playback or fitness data.

Limited AI features for older models

One UI 7 introduces several AI supported functions:

  • AI SELECT for gif creation from video sequences
  • Writing Assist for word processing and formatting
  • Drawing Assist for AI-based image editing
  • Audio eraser for noise reduction

Samsung limits the audio eraser function to the latest models-the S24 series, Z Fold 6, Z Flip 6 and the Tab-S10 series. The manufacturer mentions the required hardware performance for real-time audio processing.

Update time plan for other devices

After the initial rollout, the following devices receive the update:

  • Galaxy S23 series
  • Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5
  • Galaxy Tab S9 series
  • Galaxy Tab S10 series
