Samsung could be deposed by Apple concerning the global smartphone market in Q4 2022

The international smartphone market is not observing some good numbers. It is due to low demand following inflation and economic downturn. In the midst of this, TrendForce, the market research firm, has shared a research report. This report indicates that Apple is all set to capture the position of South Korean giant Samsung regarding the market share in Q4 2022.

As per TrendForce, the international smartphone market share stood at 289 million units as of Q3 2022. It has declined by 0.9% compared to the last quarter. Additionally, a decline of 11% was observed in the same quarter of the previous year. It is expected that Apple will grow tremendously with its market share surging from 17.6% in Q3 2022 to 24.6% in the fourth quarter. Resultantly, Apple will be able to overtake Samsung. Thus, becoming the top leader in the smartphone market by Q4 2022.

In contrast, Samsung only observed a 3.9% increment in shipments from the last quarter. The shipment numbers were recorded at 64.2 million units. According to BusinessKorea, the rise in inventory pressure, less demand, and shortage of semiconductors will act to further decrease the shipments in the fourth quarter. Thus, impacting the position of Samsung in the international smartphone market.

On the other hand, Apple shipped around 50.8 million units as of Q3 2022. It is showcasing a solid trend in growth. It is probably due to increasing demand for the iPhone 14 series. Given these facts, the market share of Apple is likely to persist in growth in the fourth quarter. Whereas the Chinese OEMs like Xiaomi, Oppo, and Vivo are anticipated to lose market shares in Q4 2022. Though, presently they reside in the 3rd to 5th rank. As per predictions by TrendForce, Chinese smartphone makers will face substantial hurdles in the future. It is because of the less demand for smartphones in the local market of China as well as slow economic growth in India.
