It has been speculated that the smartphone division of tech giant Samsung might be working on the development of a mobile chip, with a particular focus on the Galaxy S lineup. Some previous reports claimed that Samsung might not use the Exynos chips in its high-end smartphones anymore. A new assumption now points out that soon we might receive information about the forthcoming high-end processor of Samsung.
The tipster Ice Universe has shared that the company might share some information about the in-house mobile chipset during the Galaxy S23 series release. The Galaxy Unpacked event is scheduled for February 1, 2023. During this event, we can expect some insights coming from the CEO TM Roh of Samsung MX. According to the reports, the new chipset is specifically going to be designed for the Galaxy S25 series. That will be introduced in 2025.
While these all are rumors. Since we have no official words regarding this matter. Further, some sources suggest that the processors will be manufactured based on a 3nm GAA fabrication process. They will utilize either the second or third generation of the 3nm process from the company’s foundry. Reportedly, Samsung MX has built a team of around a thousand engineers as well as an expert in semiconductor tech from Apple. They will work on the forthcoming mobile chipset. If this project goes on successfully, then Samsung might entirely switch to its own chipsets in its products like tablets and smartphones.
Given this scenario, what could be next for the team at work for Exynos chipsets? Well, this team is presently working for the System LSI division of Samsung. If we go by these rumors, then this team might be restricted to working just for automobile chipsets and aiding other companies in building their mobile chips. Besides this, we can still see some mid-range Galaxy smartphones based on chipsets by Exynos.
