Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 gets FDA-approved for irregular heart rhythm notification (IHRN) feature

Smartwatches are more than just fitness and health trackers. With every passing day, new and new features are being added to the smartwatches. Recently, Samsung declared that its irregular heart rhythm notification (IHRN) feature got clearance from US FDA. This feature will be added to the ECG feature. It can track the abnormal heart rate and notify the users whenever anything such happens.

Samsung will introduce a new feature with the One UI 5 Watch. It is Samsung’s wearOS skin that will be powering the Galaxy Watch 6 series. The Galaxy Watch 6 is expected to be released later by this year. In fact, some rumors suggest that it will release sometime in July. Followed by the release of Watch series 6, the new One UI 5 will then be debuted on Galaxy Watch 5 and Galaxy Watch 4.

Atrial fibrillation (AFib)-related cardiac rhythms are proactively monitored by IHRN. AFib is a type of arrhythmia. It is an indication of serious cardiovascular problems that might raise the risk of complications including heart failure and stroke. Some forms of AFib are asymptomatic or even silent, so you might have it without being aware of it.

Once enabled in the Samsung Health Monitor app, the feature will automatically monitor for irregular heartbeats. If a certain number of measurements taken consecutively are abnormal, the watch will alert you to the possibility of AFib activity and urge you to get an ECG for a more precise reading.
