Samsung has finally started the distribution of One UI 7

After a long waiting time, the time has finally come: Samsung distributes the stable one UI 7 update based on Android. The update brings numerous innovations, including extended AI functions and a revised user interface with the new Now Bar.

Samsung starts distribution of One UI 7

Samsung started delivery of the long-awaited One UI 7 update for the Galaxy S24 series on Monday. The new user interface is based on Android 15 and is initially available for the Galaxy S24, S24+ and S24 Ultra. This gives the flagship devices their first large operating system update since the market launch. The distribution takes place gradually and was started in South Korea.

Further international markets are to follow in the coming days. The update brings numerous innovations. Perhaps the most interesting new feature is the now bar, a pill-shaped UI element, which shows ongoing activities both on the lock screen and in the status bar. There are also improvements in the Galaxy AI functions, including the “Audio Eraser” and extended writing and drawing aids.

As Sammobile reports, the update has a size of around 5.2 GB and also contains the security patch for April 2025. However, users who have already participated in the beta version can expect a significantly smaller download package.

Samsung comes on the market relatively late with his Android 15 update. While manufacturers such as OnePlus, Oppo and Vivo supplied their devices with Android 15 in December 2024, Samsung needed around seven months after the publication of Android 15 and four months betatest phase to complete the stable version.

Further devices will follow

In the coming weeks, further devices will receive the update, including the Galaxy Z Fold 6, Z Flip 6, the S23 series, S23 FE and the Tab S9 and S10 series. For older models such as the Galaxy S22 series and the foldables of the fourth generation, the update will probably not be available until the third quarter of 2025.

To check whether the update is already available, users can search for new versions in the settings under “Software update”. As the distribution in waves is made, a little patience is required.
